Yorkshire County Cricket Club: Opening Season Lunch

The start of a new era at Yorkshire County Cricket Club

Infront of 270 guests at Headingley Stadium, it was my privilege to host the Opening Season Lunch ahead of the start of the new domestic cricket season. An event which showcased the women’s team – and all teams – playing under the same White Rose banner.

An event where Club Chair Colin Graves—CBE and Interim CEO Sanjay Patel discussed a busy winter for Yorkshire off the field – including the sale of the Hundred franchise. The implications that has for the club and the prospects for this season on it, and the years ahead.

We heard from the new men’s team coaching staff and their aspirations, along with members of the Pathway System on the emerging talent for the future, developing through it.

We also announced the new captains at Yorkshire for 2025. Jonny Bairstow will skipper the team in red ball cricket, while Dawid Malan will lead them in the Vitality Blast.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion. Everyone present clearly looking forward to the new season with much anticipation as Yorkshire return to the 1st division of the County Championship. They open at Hampshire in week 1 and I wish them all the best in the season to come.
