40 years on from the infamous “Hand of God!” and England could be set to return to play in Mexico over the next few weeks as the World Cup kicks off in North America.
On Saturday evening the man in goal that day, Peter Shilton CBE captivated the audience at the Medina Theatre on the Isle of Wight as he discussed that moment, his record breaking career and England’s chances over the next 8 weeks.
From starting his career behind Gordon Banks, to winning the League and European Cup under Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest, reaching the World Cup semi-finals and dealing with a gambling addiction which has led to him setting up the Silver Lining charity. This was an evening where guests were able to ask their own questions of England’s most capped player, have photos taken and autographs signed AND raise valuable funds in support of Wessex Cancer Support.
It was a superb, immersive evening, expertly stage by Seamless Entertainment – and it was my pleasure to host it.
Thanks to all those who attended and to everyone working behind the scenes who ensured the event flowed seamlessly. Now it’s over to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad and onto the World Cup 2026!
