The Business of Sport: the topic of the summer meeting of the Bradford City Business Club.
Once again I was delighted to host a Panel and Networking event targeted at businesses in, and around, the Bradford area. This meeting pulled back the cover on the operations of a professional sports organisation and emphasised the importance of laying the foundation for success when many of your clients and customers might view this to be your quietest period.
Bradford City’s General Manager, Davide Longo, Head of Commercial, Adam Keizer, Operations Director, Pauline Watson and Head of Marketing, Brett Cullen spoke at length about the issues, circumstances and planning that go into running a football club. The significance of playing a leading role in the community and the benefits of businesses being associated with the club and its values.
At such events perhaps the greatest satisfaction comes when you see business networking and collaborating in real time. That happened at this meeting – publicly and openly – as one member highlighted a problem they were encountering right now during the Q & A segment, and another immediately offered a solution. With them continuing that discussion once the session came to a close.
This is an event which continues to go from strength to strength – and it is a pleasure to be part of.
Thanks to Nicola Brandon and Mick Russell for their effort and organisation. Thanks also to Cedar Court Hotel Leeds/Bradford for hosting us. The next meeting is scheduled for October 23rd – we look forward to seeing you there!
