Huddersfield Town Foundation: This is OUR Town Breakfast Event

Grow. Thrive. Belong….

These are the core pillars which the Huddersfield Town Foundation use to support the community. Recently. I had the privilege of hosting their first “This is OUR Town Breakfast” event – an opportunity to bring together local businesses, entrepreneurs, fundraisers, supporters in the region…..anyone who shares their vision of helping people to GROW, empowering them to THRIVE. A common held goal, helping those individuals to BELONG and increase a sense of pride.

The numbers released in the 2024-25 Social Value Impact report were eye watering and impressive…

🔵 £13.1 million Social return on investment
🔵 3 million breakfasts served across Kirklees since 2012
🔵 6,500 people helped
🔵 70 organisations involved

We heard from those who work with, and benefit from the Foundation’s work. Steph Hill from Kirklees Council and Helen Pearson – a local Primary School Headteacher – explained how their partnership helps youngsters everyday. Nick Beswick, a member of the Foundation’s Parkinsons Walking Football team told us how invaluable that now is for everyone who plays – both mentally and physically. Emphasising that the Foundation’s impact stretches right across the entire community.

This message was reinforced by Huddersfield Town Football Club Chairman, Kevin M. Nagle. In a video message he told the room how highly the club values its place in the local community and the significant role they have to play alongside the Foundation. A commitment strengthened in a discussion with the club’s COO David Threlfall-Sykes and the Head of Supporter Experience, Robyn Kennerdale – both are also Trustees of the Foundation.

It was an enjoyable, educational and productive event. One which provides impetus for the continuation of what has already been delivered but also an event which gave real cause for optimism for what can still be achieved.

Special thanks to Sam Dainty, Lucy Summerton, Kieran Holly and the team for their hard work, organisation and ensuring the event ran seamlessly. The attendance in the room reflects your passion and enthusiasm and will surely only serve to reinforce the Foundation’s efforts moving forward.
