Bradford City Business Club with guest: Rami Baitieh, CEO Morrisons

It’s not everyday the Chief Executive from one of the UK’s top 5 supermarkets lends his time to sit down and discuss business, experience and his insight into dealing with a competitive landscape. That’s exactly the experience members of the Bradford City AFC Business Club had on Friday, in the first meeting of 2025.

For 45 minutes, I hosted a forum in which Morrisons CEO Rami Baitiéh talked about his career, his business philosophy and the priority he places on investing in his own workforce. From sharing his core values, to listening and responding to concerns from his customers, to answering questions from the floor at Cedar Court Hotel Leeds/Bradford. He covered a vast range of topics and shared his thoughts on how to meet the challenges that lie ahead.

Throughout, everyone present listened attentively. We discussed the potential implications from the recent Budget, the benefits of utilising artificial intelligence and his appreciation of tennis legend Roger Federer.

Those present also heard from James Mason ahead of the upcoming Bradford Sports Awards and had the opportunity to network and mingle with fellow business leaders and chat around the pop up business stalls as well.

It was a fantastic way to kick off the Bradford City Business Club this year and my pleasure to host an event in which we heard from one of the top business leaders in the country. Everyone present felt they benefitted from attending.

My thanks to Daisy Urruty, Davide Longo and Mick Russell for organising along with Liz Tattersley and David Scott.

We look forward to seeing everyone again at our next meeting in April when former Yorkshire County Cricket Club and England all-rounder Tim Bresnan will be our guest.
