During her career Christa Ackroyd has raised the bar in professional journalism and the Bradford City AFC Business club had the pleasure of hearing from her this week.
The journey taken by a “local lass” from Bradford. Overcoming stereotype and overt sexism to lead the reporting of major national news stories. Breaking new ground in becoming the UK’s first radio News Editor and topping the ratings as she became a fixture in households, presenting evening news programmes on ITV and the BBC.
Her experiences are instantly relatable to the Bradford City Business Club members and held the attention of everyone present throughout the conversation. Questions were taken from the floor and met with direct answers.
It was a privilege to host a conversation with someone I regard as a peer in the industry and who is openly and rightly proud of her city and its culture. Someone who continues to uphold the highest broadcasting standards and is a shining example for future journalists to follow.
